Paula Ann Tomasetti Dominick died on April 5, 2024, at the age of 64, after a courageous and short battle with cancer. Born in Norwalk as the oldest to Pasquale and Barbara Tomasetti, Paula was a lifelong resident of Wilton and graduated from Wilton High School (Class of 1978). Following high school, Paula attended Quinnipiac University (Class of 1982), earning a bachelor’s degree of science in economics.
From there, Paula got to work carving out one of the most prolific and esteemed careers on Wall Street, notably beginning at Morgan Stanley, then moving on to Goldman Sachs before becoming chief compliance officer at Bank of America and Credit Suisse before taking over as chief compliance officer at Wells Fargo in 2020. Her 40-plus-year career paved the way — and shattered glass ceilings — for countless others, and she will be remembered as a leader with a passion for her work and fixing any problem thrown in her path. Paula will be missed by her “team” at Wells Fargo and the countless other colleagues she impacted throughout her career.
In 1996, Paula married the love of her life, Salvatore Dominick Jr. of Norwalk. The nearly 30 years they spent together doesn’t even do their love justice, as they had been best friends since they were 12 years old, often spending countless summers together in Bethany Beach surrounded by their families, who were also best friends. Soulmates is a more appropriate word for the love Paula and Sal share. Her most proud role in life was being a mom to her two children, Nora Ann Dominick and Salvatore Dominick III. There wasn’t a childhood football or lacrosse game of Salvatore’s where she wasn’t the loudest one cheering in the stands or a theater event of Nora’s where she wasn’t volunteering to make costumes and sit in the audience opening night.
Paula’s passions extended well beyond her commanding presence in work boardrooms, with a love for the arts, cooking, gardening, and more. From needlepointing to knitting, there wasn’t a craft that Paula didn’t enjoy, and she loved giving out handmade gifts to friends and family. Cooking and baking were also Paula’s most well-known hobbies. The keeper of every family recipe, she enjoyed making the most exquisite and beloved dishes and baked goods. She also loved to travel, whether jet-setting around the globe for work or her annual trips to Disney World with her family.
Paula is survived by her husband, Sal, and two children, Nora Ann and Salvatore, who all miss her tremendously already. She is also survived by her mother, Barbara; brother David Tomasetti and wife Tara; brother Richard Tomasetti and wife Patty, and godson Richard Jr.; and mother-in-law Gloria Dominick and brother-in-law Tom Dominick. She’s also survived by her beloved cousins, Sal Amato and his wife Sue and their children Michael, Nicholas, and Elizabeth; and Michael Amato and his wife Donna and their children Nicole and John, all of Wilton and Norwalk; as well as countless other family members and friends, particularly the Bethany Beach crew and her best friend, Donald Post.
In addition, she was predeceased by her father, Pasquale, and her father-in-law, Salvatore Dominick Sr.
The family will welcome visitors at Collins Funeral Home (92 East Ave., Norwalk) on Friday, April 12, between 4-8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, April 13, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima (229 Danbury Rd., Wilton), with burial to follow at St. John’s Cemetery (223 Richards Ave., Norwalk).
