On Thursday, Nov. 14 through Saturday, Nov. 16, Wilton High School Theatre is proud to present Peter Pan, or The Boy Who Would Not Grow Up. Subtitled as “A Fantasy in Five Acts,” this is the stage version adapted for The Royal Shakespeare Company in 1982 by John Caird and Trevor Nunn.

This production follows the familiar story of Peter, Wendy, Michael, John, Captain Hook, Smee, the Lost Boys, and, of course, Tinkerbell, during their adventures in Neverland. However, this is not the Disney version with which you may be familiar. This play restores J. M. Barrie’s original—and darker—intentions, focusing on the tragedy of being forced to either grow up into world of conformity or be stuck indefinitely in Neverland. As a theatrical device, it also includes a new character of “Storyteller” based on the voice of the author himself.

The cast has been hard at work since the start of the school year bringing this challenging piece to life. The language is lyrical, and while not technically considered a musical, it does include some musical numbers as well as many humorous moments. We hope you can join us for what is sure to be a crowd pleaser. In anticipation of a young audience, this year there WHS Theatre has scheduled two shows on Saturday.

Showtimes are Thursday, Nov. 14  at 7:30 p.m., Friday, Nov. 15 at 8 p.m., and Saturday, Nov. 16 at 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. in the Little Theater at Wilton High School. Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for students and are available via email or by phone 203.834.4844.
