Wilton’s PTA Council is hosting an overview discussion looking at changes in the math curriculum associated with the adoption of  CT’s Common Core standards in the Wilton Public Schools. Dr. Charles Smith, the assistant superintendent of Wilton Schools, will be leading the discussion along with Cider Mill math instructional leader Julie Wojciechowski, Middlebrook math instructional leader Nicole Strauss, and a representative from the Math-In Focus program.

Parents are invited to attend on Thursday, March 19 at 10:30 am at Trackside Teen Center (15 Station Rd.).

The presentation will provide an overview of the instructional shifts associated with the CT Common Core for math. They will also discuss the successes and challenges Wilton teachers have had in aligning curriculum and instruction to the Common Core.

The discussion was planned following a presentation in February that the PTA hosted, and which provided a general overview of the Common Core. Some parents expressed a desire to have an evening program to accommodate people who work during the day. Organizers have said they will schedule a nighttime program if there is enough interest.

Questions or feedback can be emailed to the PTA council.
