You might have heard of “singing for your supper,” but what about singing for someone else’s supper?
That’s the idea behind the second year of “CAR-E-oke for a Cause” on Tuesday, Dec. 16, from 9 p.m.-midnight. Organized by Lynn DiNanno and Lora Sherman, two Wilton residents, the event is a fun way to raise money at an important time of the year for Person-to-Person, an agency in Norwalk and Darien that helps people in poverty meet basic needs of food and shelter.
Last year’s inaugural evening raised $1,800 for the organization.
Before last year’s event, DiNanno told GOOD Morning Wilton where the idea of combining karaoke and fundraising came from.
“I like the idea, that it’s really for everyone. Don’t be shy, even if you come for an hour, and you’ll walk away smiling. Maybe from seeing someone you didn’t expect to break out and sing. A lot of people go up to perform together, and it’s a lot of fun to do something you don’t normally do. At the end of the day, it’s a lot of fun, and to know you’re making a difference. It’s a great holiday spirit thing to do.”
The event is both a food drive as well as a fundraiser. Tickets cost $85 and guests are also asked to bring jars of peanut butter and jelly to donate.
Their “Jingle Bell Rock ‘Care-oke for a Cause’ Ladies’ Night Out” will take place at Bianco Rosso, 151 Old Ridgefield Rd..
