The Music on the Hill Festival Chorus and 24 handbell ringers will perform a traditional Christmas concert on Friday, Dec. 16, at 7:30 p.m. at Wilton’s St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church (36 New Canaan Road).

Sounds of the Season” features classic carols from around the world, including “Rejoice!,” a fresh interpretation of three familiar carols by New Canaan composer Gwyneth Walker, and “Dona Nobis Pacem” sung with bells.

The ringers will premiere artistic director Ellen Dickinson‘s new suite of carols from the Americas–more than one might imagine–arranged for double handbell choir. Dickinson will also conduct.

This popular concert includes favorite carols sung by all, accompanied by artistic director David H. Connell playing the church’s imposing Reuter organ.

Tickets are $20 in advance, $25 at the door. Children and students are free. Purchase tickets online or reserve in advance via email or by calling 203.529.3133.

Wilton’s Music on the Hill is completing its fifth year as an independent non-profit organization. It promotes engagement with music by offering workshops, a Summer Sings series, and four performing ensembles–Festival Chorus, Summer Chorus, professional Chamber Chorus, and Jubilate Ringers–all led by artistic directors David H. Connell (D.M.A.) and Ellen Dickinson (M.M.). The groups draw participants from across the region to perform six concerts each year, primarily in Wilton, Weston, and Westport.
