Last year the Town of Wilton‘s administration had inquiries from citizens about notification on second half taxes.  The Town is required by the General Statutes to put notices in the newspaper three times about tax due dates, but this year, according to Sandy Dennies, Wilton’s CFO, town officials are trying to make certain that everyone gets the message, no matter what paper they read or website they follow.  Below is the notice that second half taxes are coming due, and it advises of the dates before penalties are imposed.

Notice is hereby given to all persons liable to pay taxes to the Town of Wilton, CT on the assessment list of October 1, 2012, that the first installment of said tax having been paid on or before August 1, 2013, the second installment of said tax is due and payable on January 1, 2014.  Payment may be made without interest on or before February 3, 2014.

If payment is not made on time, the installment due will become delinquent and subject to interest at a rate of 18% per year, (1.50% per month or a part of a month beginning 1/1/14), as provided under Public Act 82-141.  Minimum Interest Charge is $2.00.

NO TAX BILL IS MAILED FOR THE 1/1/14 INSTALLMENT, AS THE ORIGINAL TAX BILL MAILED IN JULY 2013 CONTAINS BOTH INSTALLMENTS.

Motor Vehicle Supplemental tax bill due January 1, 2014 may be paid without interest on or before February 3, 2014.  These Motor Vehicle Supplemental tax bills are only for those who registered Motor Vehicles between October 2, 2012 and July 31, 2013.
