Town Publishes ‘Better’ Searchable Charter and Ordinances Online
It’s now gotten much easier to look up laws and ordinances in the Town of Wilton.
Wilton officials have published the Town Charter and complete set of local ordinances on the town website, making them now available in an easy to use and searchable online format. The link, located on the Town’s homepage under the ‘Government’ and ‘How Do I’ menus, replaces the previous PDF version. The Town engaged eCode360 to provide this service, which also includes regular monitoring for compliance with State legislative changes.
This technology initiative is one of many implemented in the last few years to allow for a more efficient and transparent Town government.
More recently, since the upgrade to the new town website, residents are able to subscribe to alerts with links to town board meeting minutes and agendas as well as video and audio recordings of meetings that the town has made available.
Additionally, Wilton Police Department will send urgent alerts (e.g., road closures, power lines down, etc.) to subscribers through the new website. In the past, such alerts were sent through an email list maintained by the Wilton Kiwanis Club. Police will discontinue using the Kiwanis list as of Oct. 15, 2019, after which they will only send notifications through the town website’s E-Alert feature. All Town emergency notifications will also continue be posted on the Wilton Police Department’s social media pages of Facebook and Twitter.
Residents can subscribe to e-alerts through the town’s website.
