Trackside Teen Center is hosting two fall sessions of the evidence-based Successful Study Skills 4 Students (S4) program–one workshop for middle school students, the other for high school students. The workshops foster academic achievement by teaching students key study strategies that help them learn and achieve better academic success.

The middle school workshop will be held each Wednesday starting on, October 1 through October 29. The high school workshop will be held on each Thursday starting on, October 2 through October 30. Both workshops will be held at the Trackside Teen Center, 15 Station Rd..

Bus 7 will take students directly from Wilton High and Middlebrook schools directly to Trackside after school at no cost to students.

“We have received many requests from the community for this program and are pleased to offer it for the first time at Trackside,” said Brett Beatty, Trackside’s program director. “Study skills are critical and a necessary foundation for academic success.“

The S4 program is founded on educational research and evidence-based studies. Its highly interactive approach is designed to clearly demonstrate how to apply students’ own curriculum and course material to the taught methodologies and systems. The workshops are taught by experience teachers. Each class is limited to 15 students.

“We are excited to offer the S4 workshops at Trackside Teen Center. Whether students are looking to acquire basic skills in organization, time management, and executive functioning strategies, or simply looking to improve their overall academic experience, these tools – when used – will help them succeed. Implementing even a single new skill has been shown to boost students’ motivation and academic performance,” said Michelle Sagalyn, president of S4.

The S4 program is designed to bolster academic confidence, motivation and preparation as academic workload and expectations increase rise. Skills taught include: note-taking , active learning strategies, understanding main ideas and important details, time management, organization, and quiz, test, and long-term project preparation strategies.
