The Wilton Board of Education will host two informal receptions for parents of Wilton students and members of the community to meet incoming Superintendent of Schools Dr. Kevin Smith. The receptions are scheduled for Monday, June 2 from 7-8 p.m. in the Clune Center’s Zellner Gallery, and on Monday, June 9 from 9:30-10:30 a.m. in the Zellner Gallery.

The receptions, sponsored by the Wilton Parent Teacher Association, will feature brief remarks by Dr. Smith, followed by a question-and-answer session.  Attendees will also have an opportunity to visit informally with Dr. Smith.

Smith officially assumes his position in Wilton on July 1, 2014. He will succeed Dr. Gary Richards, who is retiring after ten years of service to the Wilton Public Schools.

Smith’s appointment was announced by the Board of Education earlier this year, following a nationwide search of qualified candidates.  He is currently superintendent of schools in Bethel, CT, a position he has held since 2012.

All members of the Wilton community are invited to attend the June 2 and June 9 receptions. Light refreshments will be served.
