The Wilton High School Girls Basketball team is playing at home on Friday, Feb. 3 against Bridgeport, but they’re also playing for a cause.
The team is inviting all of Wilton to come support them in their fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. The team is playing to help the charity organization as part of a Coaches vs. Cancer Event. Enjoy a great game and donate to an important cause this Friday, Feb. 3 at 5:30 p.m. against Bridgeport at the WHS Zeoli Fieldhouse.
The girls’ team coach, Rob Coloney, had this to say about his team on Facebook:
These girls work incredibly hard and I am constantly in awe of their passion and dedication to this craft, among so many others. Aside from being exemplary athletes, they are tremendous honor roll students, and better people. We welcome you to enjoy a fun family atmosphere and competitive basketball as an escape from the cold, and reminder that the value of family–be it personal or town–is the greatest gift.
Thanks, as always, for your support. It means everything to our program to compete on your behalf. It’s a great honor to represent 06897.
There will be a bake sale and other ways to support this evening’s fundraiser. In addition, there will be a half time game of knock out for the youth players (winners will receive prizes), and a survivor in the community who is a WHS junior will say a few words before the game.
Spectators are invited to wear pink for a “pink-out.”
