Two of the most compassionate student groups at Wilton High School are the Top Inclusion Models (TIMS) and Best Buddies, groups that promote inclusion of all students no matter the ability or differences.
During April’s Disability Awareness Month, created by the Parent Advisory Board, each of the schools is hosting various events to help educate the students and school communities about tolerance and acceptance. The high school students involved in TIMS and Best Buddies produced this video about inclusion, people-first language (using language that doesn’t define a person by the disability–e.g. a ‘boy with autism’ rather than an ‘autistic boy’) and not using the R-word.
The video was played this morning on the ‘Warrior Morning’ daily TV news show produced at WHS.
