The Wilton 12U District All-Star Team advanced in the District One tournament this past weekend with convincing wins over Darien (10-2) and Ridgefield (6-0).
On Saturday, June 30, Wilton pitcher Cole Silvia pitched an exceptional game, going almost six innings while striking out seven, scattering five hits, and walking only two batters. Max Jarvie came in to close the game and secure this group’s first district win. The bats were alive aided by a towering home run by Jarvie and a grand slam by Jackson Duncan.
On Sunday, July 1, Michael Fischetti pitched a great game for Wilton going four outstanding innings striking out seven and only giving up four hits. Jarvie came in again and finished things off, striking out three of the final six batters. The Wilton bats again pounded out 11 hits, highlighted by Jason Sherrick, Nicholas Toucans and Duncan, with multiple hits and a towering HR by Justin Lewis.
Silvia, Fischetti, and Jarvie were aided, both days, by solid offensive and defensive contributions from Adam Daversa, Gavin Lowne, Nick Forgione, Jackson Carbonier, and Charlie Caporrino.
Manager Michael Daversa, along with his coaches Mike Sherrick, John Fischetti, and Chris Toucans, mapped out a game plan and their players, 12 deep, executed to perfection. Wilton moves on in District play, a double elimination tournament for the district championship beginning this Friday against Stamford National.
