The Wilton Congregational Church is once again holding its annual Election Day Coat Drive, this time for the 52nd year. Donations of new and gently used coats will be accepted at the church on November 6-8. In addition to warm clothing for men, women and children, new and gently used bedding and sleeping bags will be collected.

All donations will be sorted and mended or cleaned, as needed, and then delivered to Wilton Social Services, Person-to-Person in Darien, the Open Door Shelter in Norwalk and the Bridgeport Rescue Mission. Last year, approximately 1,500 items were collected and distributed to those in need.

Cecil Maher, the director of Person-to-Person, says this is a critical effort every year. “We so appreciate your help with clothing for those who might otherwise go without a warm coat this winter.”

Donations may be dropped off at Wilton Congregational Church on Sunday, Nov. 6 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m.; Monday, Nov. 7 from 8 a.m.-4 p.m.; and Tuesday, Nov. 8 from 8 a.m.-4 p.m.. Donors are asked to look for posted directional signs at the church.
