Democrats from the region held party conventions this week to officially endorse to run for the state legislature in November 2024.
On Tuesday, May 14, delegates from the eight towns represented by the 26th State Senate District officially nominated Democrat Ceci Maher as their candidate to run for the seat. On Wednesday, May 15, party members gathered again, this time to officially endorse Democrat Savet Constantine to run for the 42nd House District.
Maher is running for re-election to the state senate seat she currently holds. The 26th district includes Darien, New Canaan, Redding, Ridgefield, Stamford, Weston, Westport and Wilton.

As the officially endorsed Democratic candidate for state representative in the 42nd District, Constantine is running for state office for the first time. She was unanimously endorsed by delegates from the towns in the 42nd legislative district, including Wilton, New Canaan, and Ridgefield.
In a press release issued by her campaign Wednesday evening, Constantine said she was “honored and humbled” for the chance to serve the community.
“Running for office isn’t about me. It’s about our communities and the future we all share. With the right leadership, we can make sure our towns stay wonderful places to live, work, and raise a family,” she said.
Constantine will face off against Republican Kim Healy, who kicked off her own campaign for the 42nd on Wednesday evening as well, although it was at a private “meet the candidate”-type event, rather than at a nominating convention. The Republican convention, where an official endorsement will be made, is being held on Thursday evening, May 16.
