The Wilton Farmers’ Market kicks off its 2017 season at the Wilton Historical Society (224 Danbury Rd.) this Wednesday, June 7, with Bankwell as this year’s new sponsor. Organized and managed by the Wilton Chamber of Commerce and hosted by the Historical Society, the market takes place every Wednesday from 12-5 p.m., starting now through mid-October.
The Wilton Farmers’ Market features several vendors ranging from local and regional farmers, artisans, small gourmet food purveyors and chefs who come together to provide shoppers a venue at which to purchase the best local products. Featured are locally grown and prepared produce, baked goods, flowers and other goodies, and also taking part in the market will be a variety of local crafters and artisans, who will offer their jewelry, natural hair and skin products, oils and dressings and more.
“We have a full market and a waiting list, plus a series of ‘guest’ vendors lined up with more interested so we are looking forward to another great, even better season,” says the Wilton Chamber’s Debra Hanson. “Our market manager, Robin Roscillo, has helped to create a professional and organized market and it has pleased the vendors and visitors which has enabled us to easily fill spaces and offer a great selection of terrific products.”
Among the returning farmsteads are Ambler Farm, Gazy Brothers Farm and Horseshoe Farm for fresh produce and flowers; Beldotti’s Bakery with fresh mozzarella, pesto and amazing breads; Bistro Du Soleil for delicious prepared foods; Wildtree’s organic spices, oils and dressings; sweet treats by Sweet Seidner’s and TJ’s Cookies; and jewels and fashions from Witchy Poo, Blue Lotus and Bella Alpaca. Plus, new vendors include Carbon Chocolate, Get Loose Tea, Fine Lines Stationary, The Montessori School and other surprise guests.
Hanson also promises some fun, games and prizes thanks to the market’s new main sponsor, Bankwell.
Again this year, the market will open at noon to encourage shoppers to “dine” at the market, while enjoying shopping, entertainment and activities throughout the season. They’ll be able to enjoy a delicious lunch from two returning foodie favorites–Chef Jeff’s BBQ and Boothbay Lobster’s Truck–who will be back with great lunchtime fare.
