Over Mother’s Day Weekend, 36 members of the Wilton YMCA Gymnastics Team travelled to Readfield, Maine to compete in the 2017 NorthEast Regional YMCA Championships. With almost 1,100 gymnasts from 35 YMCAs in attendance, the three-day event from May 12-14 was packed with excitement, fun, and team spirit. Wilton gymnasts brought home multiple All Around (AA) trophies, numerous medals, and priceless experiences that come from competing at the next level.

Level 3

In age 9C, Cailyn Cruickshank scored 9.150 on vault, 9.350 on bars (third), 9.125 on beam and 9.20 on floor.

In age 10A, Teagan Stengrim scored a 9.125 on vault.

In age 10B, Kaelyn Talisse was the fifth AA winner, taking first on vault (9.525), second on bars (9.40) and third on floor (9.050).

In age 11A, Sofia Vitti took home the second place AA trophy, placing first on bars with a gorgeous routine (9.575), second on floor (9.3) and third on vault (9.3). Geneva Southworth was second on vault with 9.350. Isabella Silverstein was fifth on vault with 9.175.

In age 11B, Jennifer Von Bartheld had a strong round of events, placing third AA, first on bars (9.350), fourth on floor (8.925), fifth on beam (8.875) and scoring 9.1 on vault. Elizabeth Fahey was third on vault with a 9.20. Ella Mancuso scored a 9.10 on vault.

In age 12, McKayla Iacoponi came in fourth AA, with 9.4 on bars (second), 9.2 on floor and 9.150 on vault. Madeline Mosquera scored a 9.125 on floor.

Level 4

In age 9, Alyssa Mariani placed fifth AA, with 9.175 on floor (3rd), 9.025 on beam (5th) and 8.9 on vault (5th).

In ages 11C, Alyssa Smeriglio nabbed the second place AA trophy, with first place finishes on floor (9.075) and beam (9.2), and second on bars (8.9). Ella Arghirescu took home the bronze medal for her steady beam routine (9.0).

In ages 13+, Isabella Giordano scored a 9.0 on bars to take fourth.

Level 5

In ages 8-10, Ashley Umhoefer was unstoppable, taking the well-deserved title of AA Champion and winning first places on floor (9.375), bars (9.3) and vault (9.250), and placing fourth on beam (9.150).

In ages 12, Donna Stepnowsky scored a 9.0 on vault. Alyson Scheurkogel took third on vault (9.150).

In ages 13+, Ava Walker placed fourth on beam.

The Level 5 girls placed sixth All Around.

Level 6

In age 13, Emily D’Onofrio scored a 9.2 for fifth on beam.

Level 7

In ages 9-11, Mia Karlehag was second on floor with her beautiful routine (9.4), and fifth on vault (9.050) and beam (9.050).

In ages 13, Sarah Collias scored a 9.225 on floor and placed third on beam (8.725).

In ages 14, Emma Daugherty was second AA champion, with second on bars (8.6) and beam (8.8), third on floor (9.325) and a 9.1 on vault.

In ages 15+, Katherine Ginsburg had a fabulous meet, placing second AA and coming in first on beam (9.2), second on floor (9.150), third on vault (9.0) and fifth on bars.

The Level 7 girls placed sixth All Around.
