On Monday, June 10, Wilton High School held its annual Senior Athletic Awards Night, where Athletic Director Bobby Rushton and other invited organizations presented senior athletes with awards and scholarships. The event also recognized several individual athletes and fans for special contributions they made to athletic life at WHS.
Rushton also showed off the 2023-24 year in athletics “by the numbers.” In all, there were 400 single-sport athletes, 226 multi-sport athletes and 145 three-sport athletes; and 61% of all Wilton High School students participate in athletics. There were 31 varsity programs and 814 athletic events in which students competed, and 38 students have committed to continue their athletic careers in college. Among the athletes’ many achievements there were 114 all-FCIAC athletes, 27 all-state athletes, three academic all-American athletes, seven all-American athletes, and six FCIAC exemplary scholar athletes.

Lt. John G. Corr Memorial Award — Presented by Tim Eagan — as chosen by the Corr scholarship directors, is awarded to the WHS student who best personifies the devotion to his studies, the participation in sports, the qualities of true leadership and the exemplary personal character and patriotism of the man whose name it bears. The award was established 51 years ago, after Wilton’s Lt. John G. Corr was killed while serving in Vietnam.
