For more than a decade Wilton Kiwanis Club volunteers have greeted customers at the Village Market and Stop & Shop with quarterly food drives, averaging about $40,000 a year in donations of goods, gift cards, and cash.
This year Wilton shoppers are well on their way to exceeding past generosity by donating $11,400 during Kiwanis’ recent Feed Wilton effort over the weekend of Sept. 6-8. That tally will contribute toward a cumulative total of $34,525 for 2024 thus far.
Former First Selectman and Kiwanian Bill Brennan (pictured above) was prepared as he served during a rainy shift. “Rain or shine our Wilton Community and Kiwanis have always supported our friends and neighbors served by the Wilton Food Pantry,” he said.
Among the volunteers greeting Wilton customers (many on more than one shift) were Tom Connors, Mike Safko, Mike Whitted, Dave Gortz, VJ Kumar, Ken Ogasawara, Mary Anne Franco, Colin Christ, Gil Bray, John Kalamarides, Dave Sklar, Bill Brennan, Frank Mabley, Barli Nugent, Joe Fiteni, Bill Mathews, Day Shields, and Whit Janeway.
