A disco in a library? Have you ever heard of such a thing? Anybody spinning loud tunes among the stacks and books is sure to get a sharp ‘Shhhh!’ from a librarian.

Unless, that is, it’s a Silent Disco, like the one being planned for Wilton Library’s 20th Annual Ladies’ Soirée, on Oct. 3, 2019 from 7-10 p.m..

A silent disco is all the rave “across the pond” since the party theme debuted at The Shard in London in 2017. Now the library is introducing the concept in the 06897 with the Ladies’ Soirée. Perfect for a library setting, music is broadcast to wireless headphones so that only those wearing the devices will hear the music.

In honor of the event’s 20th anniversary, there are other features planned, including a fireside lounge, hors d’oeuvres, delicious drinks and opportunities to bid on some unique, new auction packages, all to support Wilton Library.

“We have a very special night planned,” says executive director Elaine Tai-Lauria. “Let your hair down, put on your dancing shoes and boogie with us or just chill while catching up with friends. This is a fundraising event not to be missed.”

Tickets to the 20th Annual Ladies’ Soirée are already selling at a record pace this year, according to library development director Courtney Lilly. GOOD Morning Wilton will be giving one ticket away–details will be available on Monday, Sept. 9.

GOOD Morning Wilton is a media sponsor of the event. Other sponsors include Bankwell, Georgetown Financial Group, Inc; Tracy Locke; Eco Chic Salon Spa and Blow-dry Bar; and Crestwood Advisors. Wilton Magazine is also a media sponsor.

Volunteers on this year’s event committee are Suzi Eckert, Leti Manuel, Carrie Preisano, Regina Ray, Michelle Shia, Lana Taubin, Erin Thomas, and Kacky Theoharides.

Tickets can be purchased online. Anyone unable to make the Soirée is encouraged to consider making a 100% tax-deductible donation.
