Wilton Little League announced its 12U District All-Star baseball team that will compete in the 2019 CT District 1 Little League baseball tournament. With play to begin next week, the Wilton 12U Warriors will be competing in the first division play of the tournament, which has them playing three initial games to move on to the full District tournament in early July. Play commences on Sunday, June 30 at 12 p.m. against Ridgefield away at Jensen Field.

The 2019 team is managed by Kevin Toohill, a longtime coach and volunteer for Wilton Little League, and is supported by coaches George Cross, Drew Kaliski, Jamie Perna and Jeff Szymanowicz.

“I am very proud of the hard work and dedication these boys have put forth to prepare for this terrific test of skill in this great sport,” Toohill says. “We have practiced virtually every day throughout the better part of June and it’s no small commitment required to develop the fundamentals and confidence to compete at this level. Teams from all over the world compete in local, district, state, regional and national qualifiers to earn a chance to play in the World Series in Williamsport in August. While that is a lofty goal, if these boys go out and compete with positive attitudes, great concentration, and strong effort, I have no doubt we can compete with the best teams in our District. All of us coaches are so proud of these boys and look forward to seeing what they can do.”

In addition to Sunday’s game, the team will play Tuesday, July 2 at 7 p.m. home against Stamford (Wilton YMCA) and on Thursday, July 4 at 12 p.m. away against Norwalk (Broad River Park).
