Three photographs created by Andrea Topalian of Wilton’s Moments by Andrea Photography (www.momentsbyandrea.com) have recently been accepted into the General Collection of Professional Photographers of America’s (PPA) 2014 International Photographic Competition.

A panel of 45 eminent jurors from across the United States selected the top photographs from nearly 5,000 total submitted entries at Gwinnett Technical College in Georgia. Judged against a standard of excellence, just over 1,800 images were selected for the General Collection. Judges look for twelve elements to determine if the image will Merit and the photographs must excel in all twelve areas. These include impact, technical excellence, creativity, style, composition, presentation, color balance, center of interest, lighting, subject matter, technique and story telling.

“I’m always looking for ways to take my work to the next level. Preparing images for print, observing the judging process and receiving critiques on my images has done that for me. I love using what I have learned in print competition to improve the work I do for my clients,” Topalian said.

Topalian’s photographs will be on display at the Gaylord Opryland in Nashville, TN Feb. 1-3, 2015, featured in the International Photographic Exhibition alongside other top photographic works. This International Photographic Exhibition is held in conjunction with Imaging USA, an annual convention and expo for professional photographers and several photographic associations.

Editor’s note:  Topalian is a contributing photographer forGOOD Morning Wilton.
