The Wilton Playshop will open its 87th season in fall 2024 with Rent. The groundbreaking Broadway musical with book, music and lyrics written by Jonathan Larson, Rent tells the story of a group of young artists struggling to survive and create in New York City’s East Village during the height of the HIV/AIDS crisis. Rent explores themes of love, friendship, creativity and the devastating impact of the epidemic on a generation. Through its rock-inspired score and diverse cast of characters, Rent celebrates the power of community and the importance of living life to the fullest, even in the face of adversity. Rent will be directed by David Halliwell with music direction by Chris Coogan and will run from Oct. 25-Nov. 9, 2024.

In winter 2025, The Wilton Playshop will feature Deathtrap by Ira Levin, a thrilling Broadway play that follows the story of Sidney Bruhl, a once successful playwright struggling to overcome a string of failures. When he receives a promising script from a young writer named Clifford Anderson, Sidney sees an opportunity to regain his former glory. However, as the two men collaborate, the line between reality and fiction blurs, leading to a series of twists and turns that will keep audiences on the edge of their seat. Deathtrap is a suspenseful dark comedic tale of ambition, deception and the lengths some will go for success. Deathtrap will be directed by Gordon Casagrande and will run Feb. 7-22, 2025.

The final show of The Playshop’s 87th season will be the musical Into The Woods with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and book by James Lapine. Into The Woods is a musical that intertwines the plots of several Brothers Grimm fairy tales including Cinderella, Jack and The Beanstalk, Rapunzel and Little Red Riding Hood. The story follows the baker and his wife who wish to have a child, but are cursed by the witch next door. To lift the curse, they must venture deep into the woods to find four magical items, encountering familiar characters along the way. As the characters’ wishes come true, they discover the consequences of their actions. Into The Woods will be directed by Skip Ploss with music direction by Andrew Gadwah and will run from April 25- May 10, 2025.

A 2024-2025 season subscription will go on sale on Aug. 1. All other tickets will be on sale starting Sept. 1. For more information about auditions and tickets visit the Wilton Playshop online.
