Actress and writer Diana Canova (of “Soap” fame), will be premiering a new play she’s written, And I Always Will…, this weekend at the Wilton Playshop as a benefit for the cultural organization. In additional a portion of the weekend’s proceeds will also benefit the Alzheimer’s Association of CT.
Canova, who lives in Redding, will host the semi-staged reading of her new play at 8 p.m. performances on both Friday, May 29 and Saturday, May 30. In addition, a 3 p.m. performance on Saturday will feature a talk back with the actors and director after the show, to give the audience a chance to shape the final version of the play.
The Playshop has provided a synopsis of the play: It is the Fourth of July as well as Melba’s sixtieth birthday. It will be a West Texas night of bitter reunions, new discoveries and acceptance of what is. Along with some music, laughs and sad reminders, this is a keen study of family dynamics and how time affects them.
Directed by Don Bovingloh, the cast (in order of appearance) includes: Canova, Andrea Barrett, Dan Southern, Kaitlin Ferrara, Nancy Sinacori, Cole Tucker Walton, and Valerie DiLorenzo.
