GOOD Life Lesson: Jaws of Life Accident Reminds Drivers — Don’t Drive Impaired [Photos]
The Wilton Police Department shared several photos on Instagram with a post about a single-car accident that took place on Saturday, Apr. 4 on Cannon Rd. According to the post an officer came upon the accident while on patrol, and found the driver unconscious and pinned inside the vehicle after hitting a tree. The engine compartment had caught fire and the officer was able to quickly extinguish it.
The Wilton Fire Department arrived on scene and extricated the driver from the vehicle using the Jaws of Life. The driver was transported to the hospital with serious but non life-threatening injuries.
“Had that officer not been in the right place at the right time, this would most likely have had a tragic end,” the post stated. “One bad decision can have lifelong consequences. Don’t drive impaired.” [Note: one photo courtesy Wilton Fire]
GOOD Exercise for Parkinson’s Patients: Wilton YMCA Exercise Program Shines Light During Awareness Month

April is Parkinson’s Awareness Month, dedicated to increasing understanding of the neurodegenerative disorder affecting over 1 million people in the U.S. The Riverbrook Regional/Wilton YMCA’s Parkinson’s Exercise program is designed to help anyone with the disease increase muscular strength, cardiovascular health and flexibility in order to perform activities of daily life more easily. Participants work with certified Parkinson’s exercise specialist Cathy Bisset to improve cognitive functions, gait, balance, speech and motor skills. “The improvements I see in movement are inspiring. Not only do the participants increase mobility but they connect with each other creating a bond of encouragement,” said Cathy.
Caregivers are encouraged to participate in this valuable experience to foster a supportive atmosphere and enhance the caregiver-patient relationship and better address the challenges of Parkinson’s disease, contributing to a healthier, fulfilling life.
This class meets Mondays, 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. in the Y’s Athletic Training Center. A pre-participation assessment is given to all participants. For more information, contact Health and Wellness Director, Rhoda Kasparek via email or at 203.762.8384, ext. 282.

GOOD To Conserve Water: Aquarion Sets Water Conservation Schedule with ‘Mandatory’ Twice-Weekly Sprinkler Schedule Now through Oct. 31

Aquarion Water Company‘s 2026 sprinkler irrigation schedule is in effect now through Oct. 31, as a mandatory program for Aquarion customers in Wilton (as well as 17 other Fairfield County towns). Some residents may qualify for a variance; more information about this mandatory irrigation schedule is available online.
The program conserves water by allowing lawn and garden watering on a maximum of only two watering days per week, to help local water supplies remain sufficient for critical needs including human consumption and fire protection. Aquarion said that since it started, the sprinkler irrigation schedule has saved approximately six billion gallons of water, which has helped towns avoid additional restrictions on outdoor water use during dry summer months.
