Police identified the suspect as Scott Dobos, 24, of Wilton, who has been charged with fourth-degree sexual assault, risk of injury to a child and second-degree breach of peace.

In a press release issued Friday, Police Information Officer Sgt. Anna Tornello said the juvenile was jogging in the Allen’s Meadow area shortly before 11 a.m. Sunday when a man approached her, identified himself by name and attempted to engage her in conversation, then allegedly groped her.

Police said the victim ran away and sought help from a nearby group of people at Wilton High School, who immediately called police.

While searching the area, officers observed a white Toyota Tacoma parked at Allen’s Meadow. After it left, police traced the vehicle to its registered owner at a Wilton address.

Officers went to the residence, where they spoke with Dobos, the son of the vehicle’s owner. Police said Dobos acknowledged he had been in the area but denied any contact with the victim.

Police said Dobos matched the victim’s description and that the victim later identified him as the person who allegedly assaulted her.

Police have previously said there is no indication Dobos and the juvenile knew each other before the incident.

After Dobos was placed under arrest and charged, he posted $3,500 (7%) of his $50,000 bond and was released from custody. He was scheduled to appear at Stamford Superior Court on Wednesday, July 1, at 10 a.m.

Tornello said Dobos does not have any prior arrests or complaints in Wilton.

Police have previously said they do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the public because the suspect was identified and arrested within hours of the incident.

The press release thanked the community members who assisted the victim and quickly contacted the police, saying their actions “ensur[ed] the incident was brought to a swift and successful resolution.”

Police also commented on the impact the news of the incident has had on the community.

“We know how troubling this kind of incident is for families, parents and neighbors, and we want you to know that your police department shares those concerns and is fully committed to protecting the safety and well-being of our community members,” the release said.
