Wilton Police are notifying residents of two upcoming road alerts in town.

DUI Checkpoint

On Friday, Sept. 5, the Wilton Police Department, in conjunction with the Norwalk Police Department, will be conducting a DUI checkpoint, beginning in the evening and extending into Saturday morning. The checkpoint will be set up on Danbury Rd. (Rte. 7). Signage will be posted int eh area advising of the checkpoint.

There will be a number of officers participating in the effort. A grant was received to fund 75 percent of the cost for the officers.

The checkpoint is being conducted in conjunction with the State and National DUI enforcement program in operation through the Labor Day period.

Motorcycle Ride

Residents are advised that a large contingent of motorcycle riders is expected to travel through Wilton on Sunday, Sept. 7, as they participate in the annual 9/11 tribute ride called CT United Ride.

The ride begins at Norden Place in Norwalk at 11:30 a.m. and will be entering Wilton on Westport Rd. (Rt. 33) shortly thereafter. The riders will travel north on Westport Rd. to Danbury Rd. (Rte. 7) where they will continue northbound until reaching School St. (Rte. 107) in Georgetown. There, riders will will turn right onto Rt. 107 and continue into Redding.

Wilton police officers, assisted by Wilton CERT members, will provide traffic assistance at major intersections in order to help alleviate traffic congestion. However residents should expect traffic delays as the riders travel through town.
