Drivers shouldn’t drive drunk any night, but Wilton Police are letting the community know that they’ll be stopping cars and checking to make sure no one is driving drunk at a Sobriety Checkpoint this Thursday, Aug. 31 from 7 p.m.-3 a.m..
According to Capt. Rob Cipolla, the department will be setting up “somewhere” on Rte. 7/Danbury Rd.–the exact location isn’t being released.
The effort is is part of a DUI Comprehensive Grant from the state, which allows the department to hire extra officers specifically for DUI enforcement. Under the grant, Wilton will be reimbursed 75% of the officers’ salaries by the State DOT Office of Highway Safety.
Norwalk Police Department officers will also participate during this particular checkpoint, which is also covered under the grant.
