Wilton resident and children’s author Rob H. Hunt will be signing copies of his new book, Kyle Evans and the Key to the Universe, at The Toy Chest in Wilton, this Saturday, March 19.

Kyle Evans and the Key to the Universe is the first book in a quirky adventure trilogy that takes a boy, his cat and his friend, Sofia, across the universe, gradually revealing their amazing destiny.

Some kids love adventure, and dream of being a hero. Ten-year-old Kyle Evans is not one of those kids, but when a giant hole appears in his bedroom and swallows his mom, a hero is what Kyle must become. He sets out on the journey of a lifetime, and discovers along the way that Battle Droids are scarier than Search Droids, Kranken are more terrifying than either of these, and you should never stand still near a Burgly Bug. But more important than any of this, Kyle learns that sometimes a cat is not just a cat.

“I started writing this book almost three years ago,” said Hunt, “and I am delighted to be sharing Kyle, Bootles and Sofia with the world.”

One fun fact about this book is that the cover and illustrations were done by Hunt’s brother in the UK, James Chapman. The story behind that is a journey of a lifetime itself.

“I only met him about eight years ago,” Hunt reveals. “I was adopted as a baby, and set out to locate my birth family in early 2007. It took me a few months, but in December 2007 I tracked down my birth mother. Shortly after that, I traveled to the UK and met her and her two children (including my half-brother – James Chapman). He and I have become great friends and he also happens to be a talented (amateur) illustrator. When I was looking for someone to help me with Kyle Evans, he was the first person who came to mind!”

Kyle Evans and the Key to the Universe is Hunt’s second book for middle grade children. His first story, Flicker, was enthusiastically reviewed, earning an average rating of five stars on Amazon.com and four stars on Goodreads.com.

Hunt’s newest book will be available on Amazon.com, Barnesandnoble.com and can be ordered at any bookstore. But Wilton neighbors can get their copies at the Toy Chest book signing, which takes place Saturday, March 19, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.. Kids (and their parents) will have the opportunity to meet the author, chat with him about his stories and writing, and purchase signed copies of Kyle Evans and the Key to the Universe.
