Transparency and openness seem to be the order of the day for Wilton Schools. Not only has the new superintendent promised more of it in his interview with GOOD Morning Wilton today, but now there’s the news that the school district’s transportation director has created a Facebook page called Wilton CT School Bus Info, to make sure parents have another source for information about Wilton’s school buses.
“You’re the first to know — I created a Facebook page to provide just what it says: ‘Wilton CT School Bus Info,’” Mary Channing, the head of transportation for Wilton Schools, wrote in an email to GMW late Sunday night.
She added that every Wilton parent is invited “to ‘like’ it for important information about school bus service, school closings, delays, late running buses, breakdowns, etc.”

UPDATE 9:40 A.M.–Channing confirmed that no private information regarding bus routes or stops will be released on Facebook. Individual bus info will only be available in password-protected private accounts on the school’s Power School Parent Portal website. School cancellations and delayed opens will still be communicated via the email messenger system, but the Facebook Bus Info page may convey that information earlier.
