Each year, the Wilton Woman’s Club donates significant funds raised through the club’s Annual Fashion Show Fundraiser to one local organization. In the event’s 15th year, the Wilton Woman’s Club raised $24,600 for Waveny-Visiting Nurse and Hospice of Fairfield County to help fund its Caregiver Respite Program.
Last fall, the WWC Philanthropy Committee Co-Chairs Clare Murphy and Donna Peterson led the review of numerous local organizations that provide essential services to the Wilton community and beyond. The Caregiver Respite Program was selected to address the increasing needs of caregivers who are often overworked when caring for family members.
“On behalf of everyone at Waveny-Visiting Nurse and Hospice, I am honored to accept this generous donation to fund our Caregiver Respite Program, which will provide much-needed relief for the caregivers in our community,” WVNH Administrator and Chief Clinical Officer Mary Ross said. “So many individuals in Wilton and the surrounding towns have little reprieve from being the primary caregiver of a family member with a chronic illness or disability. The Caregiver Respite Program will allow us to send an aide into the home so the caregiver can attend to their own health, grocery shop or simply rest from the stress of providing fulltime care. I can promise that your support, and the respite it brings, means the world to these individuals and their families.”
The Waveny Lifecare Network‘s mission is to provide a comprehensive continuum of healthcare to serve the changing needs of seniors.
The Wilton Woman’s Club was founded in 1966 by a group of women led by Betty Sternad, who had a vision for serving people and groups in Wilton and the surrounding communities, by giving back through philanthropy, education and strengthening the bonds between women. Today, the Wilton Woman’s Club is a dynamic organization that thrives on service, philanthropy, and comradery. The club welcomes women of all ages, backgrounds, and talents. The objectives of the WWC are to serve, learn, and connect women through community service, social activities, and education. The Wilton Woman’s Club has contributed over $290,000 within the past decade to local, non-profit organizations and scholarships for Wilton High School seniors.
