Wilton Y Gymnasts Soar to Success in December Meet

The Wilton branch of the Riverbrook YMCA was packed with high-flying gymnasts on Saturday, Dec. 19. Eight teams from Massachusetts, Connecticut and New York competed at Wilton’s 2nd Annual Snowflake Invitational. Seven Wilton team members—Alyssa Mariani, Gemma Huck, Simona Gheorghe, Kaylie Berghaus, Isabella Jureller, Megan McNamara, and Alex Uriarte—were All-Around Champions for their levels’ age group division. The Level 8 squad came in 1st place and Levels 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 took 2nd place.

Level 3

In the 6-8 age group, Alyssa Mariani was All-Around Champion, placing 1st on vault (9.2) and floor (9.25) and 2nd on bars (9.0) and beam. In the 10 age group, Alyssa Smeriglio finished 1st on floor (9.8), 2nd on vault (9.0) and 4th all around. Emma Incao won 1st for vault (9.1) and 4th for beam. Ella Arghirescu finished 5th on floor (9.2). Ella Mancuso placed 2nd on bars (9.25). In the 11 age group, Gemma Huck was All-Around Champion, placing 1st on floor (9.6), bars (9.4), and beam (9.05). Samantha Bauer was 3rd for all around and vault (9.3) and 4th for floor (9.3) and beam. Becky Arnowitz took 2nd on vault (9.4), 3rd on floor (9.4), and 4th on bars (9.05) and all around. In the 12+ age group, Simona Gheorge was All-Around Champion, finishing 1st on vault (9.2) and beam, 2nd on bars, and 3rd on floor.

Level 4

In the 8-9 age group, Sienna Morris placed 2nd on floor (9.75), 4th on vault, and 5th on beam and all around. Ashley Umhoefer placed 3rd on bars, 4th on floor (9.3), and 5th on vault. In the 10 age group, Sofia Blessing placed 4th on beam. In the 11 age group, Kaylie Berghaus was the All-Around Champion, also taking 1st on bars (9.6) and beam (9.25) and scoring 9.15 on floor. Maddie Rosa won 1st place on vault (9.0) and took 5th place on beam and all around. Alyson Scheurkogel placed 4th on floor (9.35) and vault. Chloe Jureller finished 2nd on vault, and 5th on floor (9.3). Donna Stepnowsky took 3rd place on vault and scored 9.2 on floor. Gillian Lipsky took 5th place on vault and scored 9.1 on floor. In the 13+ age group, Isabella Jureller was the All-Around Champion, also taking 1st on floor (9.4) and bars, and finishing 2nd on vault and 5th on beam. Michaela Kane finished 1st on beam, 2nd on bars and all around, and 3rd on vault and floor. Ava Walker placed 3rd on vault and 5th for bars, beam, floor, and all around. Lindsey Jarrett took 3rd on bars, 4th on beam, and 5th on vault.

Level 5

In the 11 age group, Olivia Mannino won 1st place on vault (9.1) and took 2nd on bars, 4th all around, and 5th on beam. In the 12 age group, Katherine Franco took 3rd on beam and 4th on bars and all around. Grace Chan placed 4th on vault, beam, and floor, and 5th all around. Jessica Wu took 2nd for beam and 5th for bars. In the 13+ age group, Peyton Gildersleeve won 1st place on floor (9.2) and bars, took 2nd on vault and all around, and placed 5th on beam. Nicole Beecher took 3rd for vault, beam, and floor, and 4th for bars and all around. Dillon Loud finished 4th for beam and 5th for vault, bars, floor, and all around.

Level 6

In the 10-11 age group, Mia Karlehag won 1st place on floor (9.75) and took 3rd on vault, beam, and all around, and 5th on bars. Sarah Cross finished 2nd on beam, 3rd on bars, and 4th on floor (9.15), vault, and all around. In the 12 age group, Lilly Byrnes won 1st place on floor (9.6) and beam (9.2), and 2nd place on vault (9.0) and all around. In the 13+ age group Megan McNamara was the All-Around Champion, also finishing 1st on vault (9.3), bars (9.1), and beam, and 3rd on floor (9.05). Kayla Heber won 1st place on floor (9.25), and took 2nd on vault (9.1) and all around, and 3rd on bars and beam. Rachel Esslingen finished 2nd on floor (9.2) and beam, 3rd on vault and all around, and 4th on bars. Lauren Cooper finished 3rd on vault, 4th on beam, and 5th on bars.

Level 7

In the Junior division, Sarah Collias placed 2nd on bars, and 4th on floor (9.3), beam, and all around. Kate Ginsburg placed 3rd on floor (9.35), 4th on vault, and 5th on bars, beam, and all around. In the Senior division, Sam Farhi won 1st place on floor (9.1) and finished 2nd on beam, bars, and all around, and 3rd on vault (9.0). Alyssa Jarrett placed 3rd on bars and beam and 4th on vault and all around.

Level 8

In the Junior division, Sam Huffman placed 2nd on vault, 3rd on beam, 4th all around, and 5th on bars. Marra Woodring placed 3rd on bars, 4th on vault, and 5th on beam and all around. In the Senior division, Alex Uriarte was the All-Around Champion, also taking 1st on bars and beam and 2nd on vault and floor. Morgan Leddy won 1st place on floor (9.2) and took 2nd for beam and all around, and 3rd for vault and bars. Grace Breen won 1st place for vault and finished 2nd on floor, 3rd on beam and all around, and 4th on bars.
