Wilton Youth Council was the recent recipient of a donation from the Arthur J. Wall Jr. Memorial Scholarship Fund Community Outreach Program. On Tuesday, Sept. 30, local businessman Kevin Wall (Kreg Corporation and Scoops), son of the late Art Wall, presented a check for $5,000 to Maria Wilcox, chair of the Wilton Youth Council.

“It gives me great pleasure to present this check on behalf of the golfers and businesses who supported our 16th Annual Art Wall Golf Classic,” Wall said.

On Sept. 12, over 140 golfers gathered at Whitney Farms Golf Course in Monroe, CT for one of the most popular golf events in town. “We simply cannot achieve the success we enjoy without the support of businesses and golfers and we are extremely grateful for the longstanding support we have been given over the years,” Wall explained. Due to the success of their annual golf outing the Arthur J. Wall Jr. Memorial Scholarship Fund started its Community Outreach Program in 2012 to assist other 501 (c)(3) organizations that are dedicated towards helping the Wilton community and those who call Wilton home. Past recipients have been Trackside Teen Center (2012) and Wilton Police Gift Fund (2013).

Wilton Youth Council is dedicated to positive development of the social and emotional environment of Wilton youth via programming and by sponsoring Wilton Class Projects, which provide drug and alcohol-free events for both parents and teens and the annual Post Graduation Party (PGP).

“The support we received from The Arthur J. Wall Jr. Memorial Scholarship Fund ensures we will be able to offer programming for another full year and we could not be more thrilled to be the 2014 Community Outreach Recipient” said Maria Wilcox.  On October 21st, Wilton Youth Council along with fellow sponsors Wilton Public Schools, Wilton Youth Services and Silver Hill Hospital will be presenting “Rebound: The Chris Herren Story” at 6:30 in the Clune Center.  This event is reflective of the type of programming Wilton Youth Council and its collaborators seek to provide to the community.  You can learn more about the Art Wall Scholarship Fund at www.ajwallfund.org and Wilton Youth Council at www.wiltonyouth.org.
