Youth Wrestling:  Mikey Longo Wins 2016 State and New England Titles

Mikey Longo, a sixth grader at Middlebrook School, has had a stellar wrestling season training with Beast Training Wrestling Club in Danbury. Competing in the Middle School division at 70 lbs., Longo pinned three out of four opponents, ending with a pin to win the state title. At the New England Championship Tournament, Longo wrestled the toughest wrestlers, including state champs from all over New England. Competing in the Novice division at 69 lbs., he had his most difficult match against his teammate, also a state champ, for the title.

Longo started wrestling in 2nd grade with Wilton Youth Wrestling where he developed his foundation and love of the sport. Now he trains most of the year, only taking time off during football season. Longo is a two-time CT State and New England Champ and a four-time All-American. He has an impressive wrestling resume and still has some difficult National competitions coming up this spring and summer. His overall record, since December, is 61-7, competing in tournaments and duals all over the East Coast.

Longo has been training and traveling with Beast Training Wrestling Club for the last 2.5 years. Beast has had an impressive year. Longo is one of three New England Champs and one of six state Champs from the Beast Training room. Overall, Beast placed six in New England and 18 at States. Upcoming duals include Pop-n-Flo Nationals at Lake Placid and Cape Cod.
