Any review that starts out with, “As serenely pretty as Cielo’s tiny dining room is, it’s the food that commands attention,” is headed in the right direction. The fact that the rave appeared in The New York Times is even better. What’s more, the ‘paper of record’ titled their review in this past weekend’s edition with the headline, “Cielo, an Italian Restaurant in Wilton, Brims with Variety.”

Cielo opened in Wilton in late August and since then owners Emi and Hakan Basaran have been serving up their varied and delicious northern Italian fare to appreciative diners. The couple created the restaurant in Luca’s old space after being forced to close their successful New Canaan mainstay, Carpe Diem, when the building where they were located was set to be torn down for the town’s new post office.

Writer Patricia Brooks describes Cielo’s menu as offering choices that, “are all compelling.” Best of all, she gave the spot a “Very Good” review.

Emi Basaran commented on a Facebook post about the review to thank Wilton patrons. “Thanks to all Wiltonians for your continued support! Cielo would not be what it is without all of you…Cheers!”

The article appeared in print on page CT8 of the New York/Region edition.
