How sweet is this? Wilton’s Heavenly Bites was named a Yankee Food Awards winner in the November/December holiday issue of Yankee Magazine, available on newsstands now and online. Not only that, but the Wilton-based business was the only Connecticut company amongst the 25 winners chosen by the magazine’s editors.
Heavenly Bites cake bites were recognized in the “baked goods” category. Yankee’s food editors, Amy Traverso and Aimee Seavey, scoured New England grocery stores and markets to find the best locally made cheeses, jams, chocolates, sauces—and even salt—just in time for holiday entertaining and gift-giving. Heavenly Bites has been chosen as one of the best food products in New England in a list that covers all six New England states and eight different food categories.
“The Yankee Food Awards were born out of our commitment to celebrate the New England food makers and culinary artisans that are producing the region’s best food products,” said Brook Holmberg, publisher of Yankee Magazine. “Each product we reviewed and awarded was crafted locally and inspired by both heirloom recipes and current food trends.”
The editors said of the cake bites, “In flavors like carrot cake, devil’s food, red velvet, lemon drop, and vanilla latte, they’re adorably, addictively delicious.”
Joy Gifford and Mary O’Brien, co-owners of Heavenly Bites, said, “This acknowledgement by a publication of Yankee’s standards is so validating for us. We pour our hearts into every cake bite we make from scratch, and to have that recognized is very meaningful. We are also tremendously honored to represent the state of Connecticut in these awards.”
Heavenly Bites are now available in 16 stores, including Village Market in Wilton Center and Caraluzzi’s in Georgetown.
