On Thursday of last week (March 17), parents with children enrolled in the preschool services at Miller-Driscoll received a letter from director Dr. Fred Rapzcynski announcing that he will be retiring in June. The text of the letter appears below.

Rapczynski has been the preschool’s director since 2007.

Dear Parents of the Wilton Preschool,

I write to inform you that I will be retiring from my position as director of Wilton Preschool Services and Extended School Year Services. My last day in this position will be June 30, 2016.

I believe that the Wilton Preschool Services is a program of which the Wilton community can be proud. It is staffed by exceptional professionals and para-educators who have dedicated their careers to providing quality services to children. I know that, under the current school administration, this program will continue to grow and flourish as it is integrated into the Miller-Driscoll educational community.

As I reflect on my tenure here in Wilton I recognize the important role that our parents have played in making the Wilton Preschool Services the high quality program that it is. I wish to express my sincerest appreciation to those parents who have dedicated significant time and energy as representatives of the preschool on the Parent Advisory Board and the Parent Teacher Association:  Amy Bernard, Calico Burton, Samantha Eskenazi, Maggie Feltz, Nancy Manfredi, Rebecca LePage, Jackie Shaw, and Lisa Strasser. They have been the voice of Wilton’s youngest students and have helped raise awareness within the Wilton community of the needs of children with learning differences.

In closing, I want you to know that it has been a privilege and an honor to work with you and your children. My experiences here have had a profound impact on me. Thank you for the opportunity to share in celebrating the accomplishments of your children. I wish you all the very best.

With heartfelt gratitude,

Dr. R.
