Do you know your Chianti from your Cabernet? Unsure what to order off the wine list at a restaurant? Come to one or both of Wilton Library’s wine tasting classes designed, in part, to prepare you for the library’s Annual Wine Tasting Event in November. Jeff Barbour, Owner of New Canaan Wine Merchants and a Wilton Library trustee, will take participants on a mini wine tour of Tuscany on Wednesday, Oct. 9 and of Napa Valley on Wednesday, Oct. 23. Both classes run 7:00 to 8:30 pm.
Food and wine have been Barbour’s passion and profession for 30 years. He started his career in New Orleans where he spent four years and eventually directed the wine program at Commander’s Palace with Chef Emeril Lagasse. He holds the Advanced Certificate from the Wine & Spirits Education Trust based in London and is a Certified Wine Educator.
Tickets are $25 per person and class size is limited to 40 people. A portion of your ticket will benefit the Library, and attendees will receive $5 the Annual Wine Tasting Benefit & Restaurant Showcase on Thursday, Nov. 7.
Sign up for both classes or just one, and learn all you need to know to get a grip on a good Gamay or a sip of a spectacular Sauvignon! Please register in person at the Circulation Desk or by calling 203.762.3950, ext. 213.
