UPDATE, Oct. 5, 2017–A fundraiser to help Capt. Tom Conlan of the Wilton Police has grown since news spread about the house fire that destroyed his family’s home. Wednesday morning, the fund was a little over $3,000, and by Thursday morning it’s grown to $14,215. Many donations came from the Wilton community, with comments left by residents on the page thanking Conlan for his service and pledging their help.

Chief John Lynch posted on Facebook the following information:  Thank you all for your kindness and generosity. Monetary donations are best but clothing and toys would be helpful as well. Anyone who wishes to donate clothing and toys can bring them to the front desk at the police department. Monetary donations can be made to the Wilton PBA (TC Fund), dropped off at the front desk or made online. Tom and his family are overwhelmed by the support and well wishes from all of you.”

[Original story]:  Oct. 4, 2017–One of Wilton’s Finest is now in need of some help from those he’s sworn to protect.

Capt. Tom Conlan of the Wilton Police Department, and his family lost their home to a house fire over the weekend. Their Oxford, CT home was completely destroyed and the family has lost all but the pajamas they were wearing. Thankfully, Tom, his wife, Ashley, and their three young children, as well as a niece who was visiting, and the family dog were able to get out safely.

According to a YouCaring.com webpage that has been set up by Ashley’s cousin, nothing in the house is salvageable. The children, two girls (8- and 6-years-old), and son (age 3) have lost everything. They now must start from the ground up rebuilding their home and their lives.

Wilton always mobilizes to help those in need, especially our own. Capt. Conlan is our ownPlease consider contributing here. As more specific needs are known, GOOD Morning Wilton will relay information from the Police Department to the community.

Please visit the crowdfunding site to contribute.

Wilton Police Chief John Lynch says items for donation can be brought to the police station, and of course any monetary donations also can be made to the Wilton PBA (TC Fund), dropped off at the front desk (or mailed to 240 Danbury Rd.). The Chief also says that Tom and his family are overwhelmed by the support and well wishes.
