Road crews will begin construction operations on the 3.5-mile Yankee Gas natural gas pipeline in Wilton on Friday, Aug. 1 in the following locations:

  • One crew from GPL Construction will be located on Kristine Lilly Way starting at the intersection with Catalpa Rd., working south.
  • A second crew from GPL Construction will be located on Old Ridgefield Rd., starting at the intersection with Center St., working south.

According to a press release from first selectman Bill Brennan‘s office, it is anticipated that crews will install approximately 150 ft. of pipe at each location, each day.

Here’s What You Can Expect:

There will be two or more construction crews will be working 12-hour days (7 a.m. – 7 p.m.) on weekdays and the Saturdays of August 2, 9, and 16. Construction activities will take place at multiple sites along the route until the project is completed, and Yankee Gas has said that work zones will be protected from pedestrians and vehicles. There will be police officers or flagmen who will oversee traffic control.

Yankee Gas will maintain access to residences and businesses, as well as ensure priority passage of emergency vehicle traffic through construction areas. This work is expected to continue through the end of November 2014.

Yankee Gas has a customer information line about the project, and they invite residents with questions to call 860.665.4644.
