Wilton’s Kathy Drake will be teaching two new yoga classes on Thursdays and Fridays, at Wilton Congregational Church. They are open to all, at the times listed below.
Gentle Yoga, Thursdays 10:25-11:35 beginning Sept. 19 A gentle vinyasa flow yoga class geared towards beginners, those recovering from injury, illness or simply looking to take it slow. If you haven’t taken a yoga class before, and would like to try, this is a great place to start. A relaxing & therapeutic class where we linger longer in poses. Postures and their benefits will be explained. Pace is slower, focus is on breath, opening, healing, and relaxation.
Ideal for beginners, seniors and those with arthritis.
Class ends with a lovely savasana (final relaxation) where each participant receives a relaxing head massage with lavender oil.
85 minute class.
*$22 drop in class fee or 10 class card for $200.
Vinyasa Flow Yoga, Fridays 8:30-11am beginning Sept. 20
The term viṅyāsa refers to the alignment of movement and breath, a method which turns static yoga postures into a dynamic flow. The length of one inhale or one exhale dictates the length of time spent transitioning between postures. Poses are then held for a predefined number of breaths. In effect, attention is placed on the breath and the journey between the postures as well as achieving proper body alignment in each pose.
Great for toning, strength and flexibility while reducing stress.
Classes end with a relaxing savasana (final relaxation) where each participant receives a relaxing head massage with lavender oil.
90 minute class.
*$22 drop in class fee or 10 class card for $200
