In an email to clients on Wednesday, April 16, the owners of Yogapata, a yoga studio located at 444 Danbury Rd., said that they will be closing the studio effective June 30.
“We can’t ignore the fact that there is no bottom line with the increasing rent and operating costs to run the studio. Over the last six months we have been working hard to balance the necessity of the business with remaining true to our integrity, but after careful consideration to the sustainability of our lives, we must make changes that are both saddening and painful, but hopeful and exciting,” owners, Mitchel and Tracy Bleier, wrote.
Opened less than two years ago, the studio was founded on a philosophy that emphasized the ideals of community and giving back through charitable activities. It inspired a loyal following, attracting clients from outside of Wilton as well as from within the town.
In their announcement, the Bleiers said that while they will no longer have a physical studio space, they will continue to maintain the Yogapata community.
“We are not going away, we are reinventing. …Our plans is [sic] to be a ‘studio and community without walls.’ We are pursuing spaces to rent on a per class basis around Fairfield County. We will continue to communicate through our website (which will get a makeover) and Social Media,” they wrote.
