Summer is a great time at Ambler Farm, whether it’s to enjoy a family picnic, walk the grounds, visit with the growing collection of animals or just soak up the sun while reading a book in the beautiful perennial garden. It’s also a time to enjoy the bounty grown on Ambler Farm (either at their own farm stand every Saturday 9 a.m.-2 p.m. or at the Wilton Farmers’ Market each Wednesday 12-5 p.m.) and one great way is at the Tomato Tasting and Family Fun event on Sunday, Aug. 16, 1-3 p.m..
Enjoy an epicurean afternoon at Ambler Farm while tasting and learning about a variety of fresh heirloom, hybrid and “garden variety” tomatoes. Attendees are invited to bring the largest tomato from their home gardens for a chance to win a prize for the largest one. There will also be a tomato cooking and recipe demonstration on making tomato jam, as well as lawn games and a tour of the production garden. Guests are encouraged to bring a tomato-based dish for sharing at the event. (Anyone who plans to participate is asked to email the recipe to Ambler Farm organizers in advance and bring a copy on August 16). The event is BYO picnic and blankets or chairs.
The cost is $20 per family. Click here to register.
By the way, make sure to save the date for Ambler Farm Day 2015 – Sunday, Oct. 4, 12 – 4 p.m.. This much loved yearly fall festival attracts families from Wilton and beyond.
