Two weeks ago we shared the sad news about the Hoffmans, a Wilton family mourning the loss of their 3-year-old son, Dylan. Dylan had suffered a stroke at the age of 4 weeks, and during his short life, battled many difficulties but also brought incredible love and light to his family. His family has been devoted supporters of the Ronald McDonald House, a charity organization that helps families of children receiving medical care at hospitals around the world, as they did with the Hoffman family when Dylan was receiving treatment.
Dylan was scheduled to be the Grand Marshall of the 4th Annual Family for Footsteps Walk for the Ronald McDonald House of the Greater Hudson Valley, a fundraising walk on Friday, Oct. 12, exactly one month from the day Dylan passed. The family is still devoted to raising money in Dylan’s memory and honor.
After our article about Dylan’s passing ran, so many people reached out privately as well as via Facebook and social media to Caroline, Dylan’s mom. She told us how much that meant to her and Dylan’s family.
“We really appreciate it. It’s not an easy time at all, but having such a supportive community is amazing. I am still going to do the bake sale again this year as it will give me something to look forward to and it’ll keep me busy too! That’s kind of what I need right now, since my schedule revolved around Dylan. I just wanted to say thank you again.”
The bake sale Caroline referred to is happening on Sunday, Sept. 28, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Village Market. In addition to offering some home-baked goods, Caroline says that the Cake Boutique from Wilton is generously donating mini cupcakes too.
Last year, when Caroline held her bake sale, she told GMW.com that its readers had made such a difference once they heard her story. “I really can’t thank you enough, it was a huge success we raised $460.31! Some people mentioned they saw the article and a few just got out of their car bought somethings and left, so we know they came just for that! Thank you again for the article!”
We hope that the GOOD Morning Wilton community and the wider network will again let the Hoffman family know that we support and embrace them, either by stopping by the bake sale on Sunday or by visiting their fundraising page for the Oct. 12 walk. To learn more, click here.
