BREAKING NEWS, Friday, Feb. 24, 6 p.m., Wilton, CT–Friday afternoon Wilton Police received a report of a bank robbery in progress at approximately 3 p.m., at the Fairfield County Bank at 941 Danbury Rd. in the Georgetown section of Wilton.

According to an email from Capt. John Lynch, officers responded and discovered that a lone male had entered the bank and demanded cash. There was no weapon visible and the suspect left the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Lynch says that the investigation is active and ongoing and no further details will be released due as a result.

At the time of the robbery, children reportedly were present in a different part of the building, attending classes at the Wilton Dance Studio and the Kempo Academy of Martial Arts.

Lynch says that Wilton Police Officers were assisted by police officers from Weston, Redding and Ridgefield. There were no injuries sustained in this incident and the bank will remain closed until further notice.

GOOD Morning Wilton has asked if there have been any arrests made in conjunction with the robbery. Lynch says additional details may be released on Monday.
