The Riverbrook Regional YMCA’s Wilton Branch is beginning a Diabetes Prevention Program tailored for adults ages 18 and older who have a BMI (body mass index) greater than 25 and may be at risk for developing type-2 diabetes.
YMCA officials said the goal is to create a warm and welcoming environment where participants can feel supported in their journey towards a healthier lifestyle. This program is more than just a series of classes; it’s an opportunity to engage with others who share similar goals, learn healthy habits, and celebrate personal growth together.
Eligibility can be confirmed through one of three blood tests: A1c, fasting plasma glucose, or 2-hour plasma glucose. Additionally, individuals who have had gestational diabetes during a previous pregnancy or possess two or more risk factors are also welcome to join.
