GOOD To Get Out the Vote: Historical Society gets $1,000 grant to Promote Voter Engagement in Wilton

Wilton Historical Society received a $1,000 grant from Fairfield County’s Community Foundation to promote voter engagement.
Historical Society officials said voting has played a pivotal role in Wilton’s history in helping residents to make their voices heard. At a time when the town is celebrating America 250 and the themes of democracy, civic engagement and revolutionary action, they said the grant will help WHS to encourage residents to vote as a way of shaping the community’s future with online voter registration at events including the Wilton Farmers’ Market, as well as outreach through postcards to remind new residents to register at their new address.
“America 250 is the perfect time to consider how we make an impact in our community” Wilton Historical Society Director Nick Foster said. “Our history shows how powerful the right to vote is, and how much people have risked to gain the right to representation. We want everyone to be empowered to use their voice. This grant from Fairfield County’s Community Foundation allows us to connect those who understand our past to shape our future by using their vote.”
GOOD To Preserve and Protect: Kiwanis Club Gives $10K to Wilton Land Trust

Earlier this week the Kiwanis Club of Wilton presented a $10,300 Signature Project grant to the Wilton Land Trust.
In a social media post, Kiwanis Club members said the funding “will support new preserve maps and signage at Chestnut Meadows, [the] Harrison Smith [Preserve] and [the] Gregg Preserve, along with the replacement of a collapsed kiosk at Gregg Preserve.”
The Kiwanians also thanked Land Trust officials Whitney Beaman, Craig Johnson, Mark Rice and others “for all they do to preserve and protect Wilton’s beautiful open spaces.”
