Tropical Storm Arthur has been upgraded to a Category 2 Huricane, and along the way has disrupted Wilton’s July 4th celebration. Thanks to the expected rain and turn in the weather, the Town of Wilton has postponed all activities scheduled for Friday, July 4 to Saturday, July 5.

According to Wilton’s Parks and Recreation department, the schedule for Saturday will be as follows:

  • 7 a.m./8:30 a.m.  Freedom Run Road Race (5K), registration 7 a.m. race begins 8:30 a.m., WHS Football Field/Track:  Race fees are $10 each for children 14 years and younger and $20 each for individuals 15 years and older. Sign-up form here. All participants receive a t-shirt.
  • 9:30 a.m. Bike Rodeo sponsored by Cannondale, WHS Track:  Children are invited to bring their decorated bikes (or stop by the Cannondale tent at 8:30 a.m. to decorate). Decorated bikes will take part in a once-around lap around the track. Participants ages 3-10 years.

  • 5:30 p.m.  Musical performances:  Two bands will perform at the rescheduled day, with the Wilton High School student trio, funk/reggae/rock group Great Blue taking the stage first; they’ll be followed by Retro Express at 7:30 p.m.

According to the Wilton Police, all pre-purchased parking passes will be valid on July 5th. Updated information is available on the Town of Wilton website.
