Wilton Library’s Giving Tree is an annual tradition that stands bright in the gallery each year at this time. The tree is a Wish List of items/materials/programs that the library would like to bring into the collection or provide to the community. Simply pick the item on the special “ornament,” bring it to the circulation desk and pay for it. The item can be purchased in honor or in memory of someone, or to commemorate a special occasion. A lovely gift card is given to the purchaser, who in turn can give it to the person or family being honored. Where possible, a bookplate will be placed on the selected item to highlight the honoree. The item chosen for each category is a representation of what is currently on the tree. Items may go quickly but there are many choices in each category if the first request is not available.
Items under $50 are represented by a Crafty Fox Puppet that will be purchased for Story Time for $35.99.
Shoppers also are reminded of Wilton Library’s Holiday Book Sale in which bargains in all price ranges can be found on a daily basis.
Both the Giving Tree and Holiday Book Sale run through January 2, 2017.

Wilton Historical Society
The Betts Store at the Wilton Historical Society has some very unique, one-of-a-kind items. Among them are this Patriot Head Candle for sophisticated interiors. Greentree Home’s founder Jenifer Green, loves and collects sculpted heads–clay, stone and wood. She finds the features of the face to be lovely and haunting at the same time. She discovered the patriot head in an antique shop in Central NY and thought the face was stoic and somewhat sophisticated. “As a wax rendering, the patriot evokes a sense of nostalgia that makes me smile,” states Green. From their studio in the foothills of the Catskills in NY State, the company produces a collection of contemporary, 100-percent pure beeswax candles. The sculptural renderings are more than candles; they are objects that evoke beauty and serenity with graceful sophistication. With their rich textures and vivid palette, the candles are hand poured and individually hand finished. Sold individually, they’re priced at $30. Each Patriot Head comes in a gift box made from recycled materials, and has a 50-hour burn time. Made in USA. The Betts Store at the Wilton Historical Society is located at 224 Danbury Rd.
