Saxophone phenom Grace Kelly takes the stage for the Wilton Library series Hot & Cool: Jazz at the Brubeck Room, performing on Friday, Jan. 23, beginning at 8 p.m.. Kelly will be playing from her repertoire with Pete McCann on guitar, Julia Pederson on bass and Ross Pederson on drums.
Kelly first performed at Wilton Library in 2011, at the incredibly young age of 18. Now 22-years-old, the Korean American singer/songwriter/saxophonist/composer returns to the Brubeck stage with even more experience under her belt.
As a bandleader, Kelly has performed over 600 concerts worldwide in such notable venues as the Hollywood Bowl, Kennedy Center, Carnegie Hall and festivals such as Montreal, Montreux and Newport. She has also performed and/or recorded with artists such as Huey Lewis, Harry Connick Jr, Dave Brubeck, Gloria Estefan, David Sanborn, Questlove, Esperanza Spalding, Phil Woods, James Cotton, and Wynton Marsalis to name a few. She has won many awards performing and composing. DownBeat Critics Poll named her one of the ‘Alto Saxophone Rising Stars,’ the youngest ever to be named so. She recorded her first out of eight independently released CDs at age 12. Her CDs will be available for purchase and signing at the reception.
The Hot & Cool concerts are funded by the William and Karen Tell Foundation with special thanks to Ed and Catherine Romer and Chris and Tish Brubeck. Advance registration is strongly recommended for this very popular series. Pre-registrants should arrive no later than 10 minutes before the concert start to be guaranteed seating; wait-listed and walk-ins will be accommodated after this time if space is available. A donation of $10 per person is suggested for each concert.
