Saturday morning, April 23, several dozen Wilton residents, adults and children alike, fanned out across town to help perform a little spring cleaning. Amongst those participating in the Wilton Conservation Commission‘s annual Townwide Community Cleanup were families, longtime residents, cub scouts, members of the Republican Town Committee, and newcomers, as well as first selectman Lynne Vanderslice, former first selectman Bill Brennan and his wife, Kathleen Brennan, and state representative Gail LavielleGOOD Morning Wilton pitched in too in addition to documenting some of the action. The cleanup was ably supervised by Mike Conklin, Wilton’s director of environmental affairs, and Dan Berg, chairman of the Conservation Commission.

The volunteers gathered at the Town Green to pick up garbage bags and work gloves, and spread out around town to pick up litter along town roads, trail, fields and the banks of the Norwalk River. Each year volunteers fill an entire dumpster with the litter they collect in three hours time, and they did so again this year.

Once again, Pinocchio Pizza supported the cleanup effort by donating vouchers for a free slice of cheese pizza for all volunteers.
